Re: MoT exemption

I got the local MOT garage to do an MOT without logging into the Vosa system just to check all was good.

HI Tony. I can confirm the factory RHD MKII uses a diferent loom to the LHD cars. Black tape and old school connectors, basically a modified MKI.
Andy is supposed to be getting some made but you are behind Dell and myself in the queue :)

Lou, have you found your speedo is accurate with the 60 profile. I have 65 profile, although the needle jumps around so much no telling if accurrate or not. I am not happy with the Vredestein Sportrac 5. Going straight on a main road I have to continually correct the steering with small movements to...

Thanks for the info Lou. It was chasing you round the Alps that finished my tyres off. I went for a set of vredestein sportrac 5. Seem OK but like all modern tyres the side walls are a bit too soft

Any recommendations on 185 65 14 tyres

Need to replace my tyres & interested in owners opionions. I have Avon Mohwak's on the back which have been good and lasted well snf have a VR rating. On the front I have Avon ZT5 which have worn quickly. These are HR, don't think you can get VR in this size now

On basically the same subject I have an edlebrock 1405 for my 289. Tested it briefly on my other Tiger & seemed good but put the Holley 600 back prior to some long trips last year. Would this be considered correct for a 289 with Edelbrock inlet manifold

Just taken another look and I guess the more rounded ones are front bumpers as they bend in slightly at the ends?

Bumper differences

Is there any difference between front & rear bumpers. I have a number of bumpers but some are slightly more rounded at the sides. Is there difference front/rear or is it slight differences in Alpine series?

Wanted std. remote oil filter bracket

I know I will be laughed at for using the horible std. oil filter set up but I am considering doing so for my MKII to re-connect the std. oil cooler. If anyone has a bracket available at a reasonable price I am interested.

Thanks for the advise. I had a feeling there would not be an easy option. The oil is all at the front of the gearbox and running down the bell housing or back to the drain plug so pretty sure it will be the front oil seal.

Replacing transmission front oil seal

Hi all, I am loosing some oil from the front of the gearbox where it mates with the bellhousing. Does anyone know if after removing the drive shaft and probably the gearbox mounting bar can the gearbox be slid back far enough to replace the front oil seal?

Edelbrock sell their SB Ford engines with 1.90" intake valves or 2.02". I think the 1.90" will be OK as a std. ironl 289 heads and inllet manifold fit. I had 289 heads and inlet on my 260 and it made a big differenc. The Edelbrock 1.90" heads certainly fit a 289 with std. pistons

The Animals band in motorcade of Tigers & Alpines

Did anyone see the short newsreel footage on the prog. earlier this week about top No. One singles voted by UK. Interested if anyone has come across this anywhere. It was back in November 1964, the band was poised to make their American debut on The Ed Sullivan Show. The group arrived in New York Ci...

I have a variation on this question. Some 289 cranks have a one piece oil seal and some two piece. Are the cranks fully interchangeable?
