Motorsport News award 'Drive of the Day' to Chris Beighton.
"Race winner Chris Beighton was a man in a hurry in the (Chasestead) Sunbeam Tiger Challenge at Brands Hatch over the Bank Holiday Weekend. He needed to be because his gap over Rod Birley in the closing stages of the race was in danger of being gobbled up at the finish - despite Birley only being able to use third and fourth gears in his (Chris Weedon's) car."
Autosport added: " Sunbeam Tiger racer Chris Beighton was a busy man, winning two races on Sunday and adding a third on Monday. First, he rather cosily saw off Rod Birley to take the second ever running of the Chasestead Sunbeam Challenge (for Alpines & Tigers). Then he won the first half of the Endurance race which he shared with John Finnemore.

Motorsport News reported: " John Finnemore spun the pole position Beighton Tiger from first to last place on lap one of Sunday's Classic Endurance, but handed over to Beighton 18 laps later in third. Chris caught and passed the leading Morgan little more than a lap from the end of the 30-minute battle. In Monday's return match,a well timed pit stop under caution flags gave the lead to the Jenkinson/Goodall DB4. They were overhauled late on by the Foster/Stephenson DB4 while the Beighton Tiger, handicapped by a poorly judged driver change, was catching fast in 4th". (To put it mildly Chris and John took the lot to the cleaners! Ed )
